Only 75%, though? Nah, it's 100% and -2% if the attacker is also a ninja. =D

It does get more mesmer-friendly, though I've found it mesmer-friendly from the start. I logged into the game tonight thinking I'd do the next storyline mission and a couple of quests, and then switch to my ritualist. Well, I ended up playing my mesmer all evening--did several quests and three storyline missions. Why? My mesmer can't step into a town without being invited into a group. Quite a difference from Tyria. Maybe it's her sexy outfit--who knows? But I finally got out of the city, and based on all the "Yays" and cheering from everyone in the group, I take it many find the city as drab as I do.

They're doing so poorly because hardly any people know how to use them right. They should stay back with the other squishies and utilize their ability to teleport. When the warriors take on the opposing warriors, thats when they should go after the squishies. IMO every assassin should not only have a skill that gets them to the enemy backline quickly, but also one to make it back. Aura of Displacement is perfect for that because you time it yourself. Go in to the backline, throw a combo on an enemy monk if they're avaliable, if not, the next priority, and then get back to your line of squishies. The key is to be as quick as possible, and if you get targeted, pull out before you even get to your target if you have to.

My mate has played solo assassin with henchies which are apparently unuseale and has done most the game :S, assassin sounds like a 'lifetime' to master character. I think titles will help me choose my assassins in the future .

Well i think I have a nominee for the most l33t 'sin ever. At the celetial dudes mission (can't remember its name), I was in a group with an A/Me who thought himself a tank. Now A/Me should be a good combo, through some inspiration magic in there and you got some nice stances. A little illussion and you add some nice warrior debuff.

However, this guy instead opted for the deadly Assassin/Conjure Phantasm combo. He would rush in, aggro everything insight and get blasted. It was truely majestic. I almost expected him to yell "leeroy jenkins" at the top of his lungs. When I told him that it would be awesome if he slowed down a bit his responce was "I want to get the bonus." I kindly informed him that you can't get the bonus wif you're dead.

I all fairness in that group we did have a 'sin who was really good. He was pretty pissed about our little leeroy giving all 'sins a bad name. I really feel bad for him too. I mean he took the time to actually figure out how to play the profession and now he's can't get into groups because of guys like this dude.

We managed to get through the mission despite this anvil on our team.

I play an A/Mo

and I think I play it well, I follow the warrior in, so he takes the most damage, hes the buff tank, he can handle it, I get a whole combo on a non-targeted enemy (since a zin combo, or alteast the one im using can deck an enemy after one go, for the most part, last second bleeding+deep wound FTW) and then I port out, regen my stuf, and go again.

Using skills like Aegis or Guardian to increase my block / evade ratio a fair bit. Once I learnt that rushin in isnt gonna do anything for me, it was easy to come up with alternative tactics for handling most groups of enemies.

I agree alot of idiots play Assassin, but alot of idiots play every other class too, ive had my fair share of total fools on a monk (healer monk with only heal party) and total moronic Wammos.

But then ive also seen A* Monks and Wammos.

I have a W/Ra I rush most enemies with, assuming my Monk as regened energy
I have a Mo/Me I'm a pretty good healer with, assuming my team let me regen energy.

So I think I know both sides of this coin, the good thing about assassins is theres no reason for them not to allow a monk to regen, War's always warrior about adrenaline maintanence, not a problem with assassin.

I think assassins are a strong primary, they just take more team work to play, rememebr they are a new class and the best of us are still figuring out how to use them properly. Also remember that factions difficulty has been hitched up a bit as well, so as well as contending with learning a new class, us Assassins have to deal with generally harder enemies... they shouldnt have made it so easy to hit level 20 imo, thats causing most of the problems, you see a higher level character and instantly think "ok, they may be good" but they could have just srtaed the game.

Can you post a screenie and state how many of the missions you didn't get 'help' with please.

Also when does the title actually 'kick in' does it disappear after 1 death or was it shown at the very start where you had 0 deaths.

Or did you get your lvl 20 tyrian friends to run to most areas?

sorry i dont really understand what your trying to say
but ill try to answer right now im on the arborstone mission, sry i dont know what u mean by "get help with mission".

the title appers when you have 140.6k exp but once u die
u still have the title but u cant obtain the next lvl of survivor (586k exp i think) also theres about 5 peoepl in my guild all with the survivor title, we all started new cantha chars and did the pve togheter till lvl 20, so i dont know what u mean by lvl 20 friends running u.

its not my fault we have good players, that actually know how to play, keep them selves and the team alive, i think we have 1 warrior survivor, 2 assasin survivors, 2 monk survivors, and a ranger survivor or something dunno, but yeah its rather easy getting to lvl 20 without a death as long as your not a retard and understand the basic concepts of the game. its a shame that i died at 180k exp though
woulda loved to get to the rank 2 of survivor.

Thanks thats all I need to know to realize that it doesn't mean "me>you" @ assassin. Don't get me completely wrong though, it's a nice title to have indeed, but given the dynamic it doesn't seem very hard to do at all.

If you had gotten through the whole game+sub quests without dying Or being ran, then that would be something to have an ego about.

Assassins need to be like the finish off guy. Team weakens the enemy, Assassin runs in does his combo, runs the hell back out.

As for people blaiming monks, yeah, there are some shitty monks in the game, but it's silly that people can't deal with taking credit for their screw up in a GAME

Stepping away from the factual elements of this discussion for a moment, there is a strong roleplaying advantage to the way assassins are being played.

Think of so many fantasy novels you have ever read: The hero/heroine crosses the bad guy, who unleashes hordes of psychotic assassins to do away with them.
Our brave heroes handily defeat these incompetents, until eventually we meet the true protagonist: the famous and actually dangerous assassin. The one who has a plan, and doesn't try to take on the finest swordsman or mightiest mage in the land in a fair fight.

Essentially, ANet have created both kinds of assassin found in heroic fantasy. Sure, most will be the kind of fools barely worthy of descriptive prose whose names aren't worth remembering, but the odd one will be truly fearsome.

AFAIC, they have done a great job of creating the class they set out to design. The worthwhile assassins will stand out so much better as a result.

Hmmm, now I have an urge to add a top assassin to my friends list so I can whisper them with messages like: 'I need to capture a certain skill. For this to happen, your services will be required.....'
Where is there a suitably dark alley in-game?

Wonderfully put They'd make such fascinating runners, if you kept away. But having one fighting alongside you versus truck loads of monsters seems a bit odd

That said, I finally finished Ehlona the other day, in a team suffering not a single death. We had a lev15 assassin as the only thing remotely close to a Warrior. He was tres incredible-fun to play with.

(Any chance they might weild Katanas?)

On a positive note, I think a well played Assassin would make some missions like THK and Thirsty River much easier. Granted, both always were cakewalks if you had a plan, but just the idea of getting in and offing a caster, or tieing up a monk to where he only heals himself for awhile, is pretty cool.
